The Myth Ladies of two nair tharavaatuus used to collect fire woods from the forest on the north eastern side of the siva temple. The sickle of one of the ladies came in contact with some thing, which she could not rember, but she noticed that blood gushed out of the bush.Frightened by this strange phenomenon the two women while returning home met a hunter with bow and arrows at a place known as Chavittatippara. He ordered them that a temple has to be built for him where the arrow would fall and disappeared.
The arrow fell beneath the mango tree( in the picture)close to the siva temple. Now at the south west corner,  at the foot of the mango tree, the moolasthaana of lord saastha ,the weapon of sree saastha is kept
They returned home and reported this matter to elders.A prasnam was then held.It was revealed therein  that powers of Lord saasththa and goddess bhagavathi had manifested at the place where blood was seen.On the advice of the thantri of Karumaaraththu illam, poojas were conducted  till the temple was built
