Sree Subramanyaswami Temple Maaniyoor
Root:-20kms east of Kannur at Chekkikkulam
Datable to 11th century,the details of the origin of the temple are still obscure .Certain parts of the temple ,particularly the design of the pranaalam
and the standing idol of Subramanya are reminiscent of the chola idiom.It was reported that the idol was first consecrated by a great sage.In 1965 the temple was handed over to H.R&C.EBY Maaanaatt and Kannabetti illams due to financial difficulties.

The temple structure include Sreekovil,namasskaaramandapam valiyabalikkallu and chuttambalam.The sopaanam has 4 direct steps with the motif of Vyaali-mukham engraved on the top of banisters.The beautifully carved laterite walls have 3 ghanadwaaraas,besidesa functional door at the west On the southern side of outer antharaala

The namaskaara mandapam has 16 pillars.The dilapidated chuttambalam has 2 entrances the main one on the west and the other at north-west.
The valiyabalikkal having motifs is located withint he detached agramandapam.
THE SUBSHRINE OF lORD SOORYANAARAAYANAI is located at north -east.
There are tharas for Lord Ayyappa and Bhoothaas at north- west.There are 2 Sreekrishna prathishtaas also
The temple is kept open daily from 6-11am and 6-8pm
